Chinese drywall can emit corrosive gas that blackens copper building materials. The EPA analyzed drywall and found that, “Strontium was detected at 2,570 ppm in the Chinese drywall samples. Strontium was detected in the US-manufactured drywall at 244 ppm to 1,130 ppm.”
We use the following procedure when evaluating Strontium content in drywall: EPA Method 6010B: Inductively Coupled Plasma-Atomic Emission Spectrometry -Multielemental determinations by ICP-AES using sequential or simultaneous optical systems and axial or radial viewing of plasma
